Introducing the protagonist: Olga
With SWAK Jam 2026 getting started, let’s talk a little about the character designs for our upcoming historical yuri visual novel, Olga Doesn’t Die!
At the turn of the 20th century, unrest stirs in the far-north Empire of Muscovy over bread and war, taxation and tyranny. The shadows whisper about the imperial family and about an immortal witch.
They whisper, "The imperial family's advisor is a witch. An old hag with a head full of white hairs. She knows magic like demons. The devil in disguise, tricking the emperor with her dark arts."
As the "witch" is violently exiled from the capital, the gears of revolution continue to turn toward blood.
Let me introduce the protagonist and titular character: Olga.
As you might have assumed from the game’s title and the summary, Olga is the aforementioned “witch” in the story. While she doesn’t have much in the way of magical powers, she’s certainly not mundane either.
She is an immortal who, to borrow the title, “doesn’t die.”
character setting
A close advisor to the imperial family of Muscovy, the empire that the story is set in. She has watched over the empire since before it was an empire, before the lands were united. She has watched emperors grow from babes to princes to rulers recorded in history.
That is to say: she’s been around for a long time.
The tumultuous times of the main story for Olga Doesn’t Die cause various events to happen, forcibly removing her from that position and setting into motion the dramatics of the plot.

Perhaps her hair went white from whatever magics stole her away from the grasps of death, but it seems that she’s had white hair for far longer than she ever had any other color hair.

visual design
As usual, the protagonist will serve as the POV character and will not have a sprite, but you’ll definitely be seeing Olga in the CGs!
While the story takes place over a fairly long span of time, most of the core scenes happen during winter months, so whenever you see Olga, you’re likely to see her wearing winter clothes of some sort be it a jacket or a cloak.
Her main colors are black and blue for a nice contrast with her white hair. (I can’t deny that I like white haired girls…
Key feature: a stray strand of hair that keeps falling over her forehead!

What will happen to the empire that this immortal has watched over for centuries? And who will find their way into her heart?
Please look forward to the release of Olga Doesn’t Die at the end of January to find out!
