Introducing the heroines: Katusha & Niko

With January at a 1/3rd mark, the release of our historical drama yuri visual novel Olga Doesn’t Die comes sooner and sooner!

At the turn of the 20th century, unrest stirs in the far-north Empire of Muscovy over bread and war, taxation and tyranny. The shadows whisper about the imperial family and about an immortal witch.

They whisper, "The imperial family's advisor is a witch. An old hag with a head full of white hairs. She knows magic like demons. The devil in disguise, tricking the emperor with her dark arts."

As the "witch" is violently exiled from the capital, the gears of revolution continue to turn toward blood.

Olga Doesn’t Die synopsis

I recently introduced the titular character, Olga, in my last newsletter. This time, allow me to introduce the two love interests!

katusha

First off, let’s start with Katusha, also occasionally known by her full name Ekaterina Aleksandrovna Rurykovych.

character setting

The younger of the heroines, a young woman in her mid twenties by the time the romance arc of the story kicks off. Katusha is a little princess with a sweet tooth and a heart of gold.

A girl who grew up loved and desperately loves.

visual design

A girly girl with pink hair and big round eyes! Her long pink hair is tied up with a ribbon, and her green dress is decorated with golden triangle embroidery.

Key feature: pink! (does a color count as a feature?)

niko

Next of our two love interests is Niko - Vasilisa Nikolaevna Ulyanova.

character setting

A very, very "good" revolutionary comrade.

The older of the two heroines, a woman in her mid thirties by the time the romance arc of the story kicks off. At first, she appears to be an intelligent and easy to get along with woman, but it soon becomes apparent that she’s actually a bit of a troublemaker.

visual design

An androgynous woman wearing a suit. She wears a belt with her suspenders because it’s kind of cute. She often prefers to wearing her suit jacket hanging off of her arms instead of properly up on her shoulders.

She keeps various things on her body such as a pen, a notepad, and a gun.

Key feature: monocle!

Both heroines have two endings, one sweet and one dark. I think it’ll be fairly easy to understand how to obtain either ending once you get to the branch divergence point, but I’ll be sure to write up a guide for those who want to know for sure what to pick.

I had fun writing this story and bringing these girls to life (even if sometimes they’re not so alive anymore at certain points of the story…).

Please look forward to the release of Olga Doesn’t Die later this month!
